So I woke up this morning with a day's worth of compliance course designing to do. And then I looked at myself in the mirror and thought.. you know what? The reason I quit my job was because I wanted to have some fun. A 60-page compliance course just wasn't yanking my chain, and so I decided not to do that and to embark upon my first elearning challenge instead.
The brief? "The Super Bowl is this weekend and your task is to help football fans get the most out of the big game - design a learning interaction to teach one or more football concepts".
So here it is. I started around 10am (I would usually start earlier, but I spent half the night sleeping on the sofa after being kicked out of bed at 2am, because my tickly cough was interrupting my better half's beauty sleep).
It's now 9:30pm and I may have missed a meal or two, but I have loved every minute of my day.
From coming up with a theme for my demo, to picking the colours, fonts and graphics, to experimenting with numeric variables for the first time in years, it's the first time in a looong time I have been completely engrossed in a project.
Even though I am now a day behind on my compliance course, it was worth a day to prove myself that I can still get into 'the zone' when I need to.
It will take you around 5 minutes to finish - and if you've got as far as reading this silly blog then I would really appreciate your thoughts on the course. And please don't hesitate to let me know where you think I could improve.
